The 2027 Kia EV9 Gets Some Standard Features That Used To Be Optional
The base price goes up by $90, with the biggest changes coming on the mid-spec Land trim.
- The 2027 Kia EV9 is marginally more expensive than the outgoing model.
- The EV9 Land trim gets a torque boost function and a blacked-out interior as standard.
- New wheels, gloss black exterior trim, and a new exterior color are now available on the Wind trim.
The Kia EV9 was the first mainstream three-row electric SUV to land in the United States back in 2024, when it went up against the much more expensive Rivian R1S. Since then, it has remained one of our top choices, despite some electronic niggles and some competition from its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 9.
Now, the 2027 Kia EV9 gets some minor improvements, and some features that used to be optional extras are now part of the standard kit for one of the trim levels.
Prices have gone up marginally compared to the outgoing model, and it’s worth noting that the base recipe hasn’t changed. The electric family hauler looks the same, drives the same, and has the same underpinnings as always. The difference, however, lies in the details.
The biggest change comes on the 2027 Kia EV9 Land, the penultimate trim in the lineup. It now starts at $71,635, up $1,090 compared to last year’s model, but it’s for a good reason: all of the goodies that were introduced with the Nightfall Edition in 2026 are now standard on the EV9 Land. These include gloss black 20–inch wheels and exterior trim, a blacked-out interior, and a torque boost function that temporarily increases the dual-motor powertrain’s torque from 443 to 516 pound-feet, slashing the SUV’s zero-to-60-miles-per-hour time from 5.7 seconds to 5 seconds flat.

The price bump is noteworthy, but compared to last year’s EV9 Nightfall Edition, the 2027 EV9 Land is actually $410 more affordable, so that’s a win.
Pricing has increased by $90 for the base rear-wheel-drive 2027 EV9 Light trim, bringing the MSRP up to $56,635 for the short-range version and to $59,635 for the Long Range version, which gets the larger, 99.8-kilowatt-hour battery capable of delivering up to 305 miles on a full charge.
Moving up the ladder, the 2027 EV9 Wind gets a $190 price increase, but it also comes with black 19-inch wheels, gloss black exterior trim, and a new Wolf Gray exterior paint. The top GT-Line model is still at the top of the list, and there are no changes in store for it, except for a $90 bump in the MSRP, which now starts at $73,635.
Range, charging performance, and driving characteristics are unchanged. The top EV9 GT-Line model is powered by a dual-motor setup with 379 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the entry-level Light rear-wheel drive model gets a 215 hp motor at the back, while the Light Long Range RWD model has 201 HP.
