Kia has big expectations for the new EV3 crossover in the United States, and it’s doing everything it can to lure in buyers. After debuting in August with a $31,385 starting price, the entry-level electric hatchback is now coming after its biggest competitors with some aggressive lease and finance offers.

According to Kia, the base-spec 2027 EV3 Wind with a front-wheel-drive powertrain can be had for $321/month with a $3,999 down payment, a 36-month term, and a 10,000-mile yearly limit.

The bog-standard EV3 comes with a single, front-mounted electric motor that makes 201 horsepower. A 58.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack enables an EPA-estimated range of 221 miles. That’s more than decent, but Kia has an ace up its sleeve.

For just $8 more each month, customers can get behind the wheel of a 2027 EV3 Wind front-wheel drive, which gets a larger-capacity 81.4 kWh battery and a significantly longer driving range of 321 miles. The EV3 is also available with dual-motor all-wheel drive, and Kia wants $379/month for 36 months to lease you one in the same mid-spec Wind that offers heated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

What’s more, Kia is putting $1,500 on the hood for new EV3 purchases, and customers who prefer financing get 0.9% APR for 48 months.

With numbers like these, the EV3 is the second-most affordable EV to lease in Kia’s American lineup, after the discontinued Niro EV but before the larger EV6. More importantly, though, the EV3’s debut on the lease market undercuts the Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf.

With the same contract length and down payment, the base 2027 Chevy Bolt costs $423/month to lease, while the 2027 Nissan Leaf S+ can be had for $474/month. Nissan currently has a slightly better deal for the SV+ trim, though, at $449/month.

With these prices, the Bolt and Leaf, both of which are only available with front-wheel drive, are more expensive than the all-wheel-drive EV3. Range-wise, the longest-range Nissan Leaf delivers 303 miles on a full charge, while the Chevrolet Bolt manages 262 miles.

When buying with cash, the 2027 Chevy Bolt is still the cheapest, with a starting price of $28,995, but the Kia EV3 is not too far behind. With the $1,500 bonus, Kia’s new EV starts at $29,885. Meanwhile, the Nissan Leaf starts at $31,565.

The Kia EV3 took its sweet time getting here, but it’s finally here to capture an audience that its competitors have so far failed to attract. Sales of the Leaf and Bolt have been lackluster, to say the least, leaving plenty of room for the EV3 to swoop in. Kia said it expects the EV3 to be its best-selling electric model in the U.S., but we’ll have to wait and see if Americans actually want a small battery-powered commuter car in their driveways.
