The GMC Hummer electric pickup truck is being referred to as "the world's first super truck," though there are certainly other highly-powered electric trucks on the horizon. With around 1000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, it's claimed to be capable of 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds, while offering a range of up to 400 miles.
*Note: We'll go live 30 minutes before (7:30 PM Eastern) the main event to offer you some of our pre-reveal thoughts on the GMC Hummer EV. InsideEVs own Tom Moloughney will join the Motor1.com team to discuss GM's upcoming electric truck.
The pickup truck will feature a so-called 'infinity roof' with removable glass panels to offer an open-air driving experience. An electric SUV is planned to follow after the GMC electric truck.
The EV pickup truck will feature Adrenaline mode, which will be quite like Tesla's Ludicrous mode, plus a Crab mode that features extreme four-wheel steering.
- up to 400 miles (644 km) of range
- use of GM Ultium Batteries
- 1,000 hp
- 11,500 ft lbs of torque
- 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) in 3 seconds
The vehicles will be equipped with:
- Adrenaline mode
- Crab mode - rear steering wheels
- Ultium battery
- Superfast charging
- next generation Super Cruise
- Infinity roof
- Modular sky panels
- Ultra-vision cameras
We hope that tonight's big reveal (livestream here and to be shown during the World Series) presents us with some other figures like pricing especially, as well as perhaps some production numbers and maybe even trim breakdowns so that we can better see how the GMC electric truck stacks up to the competition.
Production is set to begin next fall at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant that has been recently renamed Factory Zero to signal its EV-exclusive future. An SUV version will follow.
