The new set of incentives in Italy translated into huge growth of plug-in electric cars. We already saw that the market was moving up in March, but April was way better.

In total, some 1,661 new plug-ins were registered, which is 271% more than a year ago, at a market share of 0.95%.

  • BEV: 1,190 (up 356%)
  • PHEV: 471 (up 152%)

Plug-in buyers in Italy can count on up to €4,000 incentives to purchase BEVs and €1,500 for PHEVs, which can increase to €6,000 and €2,500 respectively if an old car is scrapped.

Thanks to almost 400 sales in April, Renault ZOE is now the top-selling model YTD, while the Tesla Model 3 was 4th in April and 2nd YTD.

The top-selling models for the month and for the year are:

  • Renault ZOE - 398 (534 YTD)
  • Nissan LEAF - 203 (398 YTD)
  • smarto fortwo EQ - 162 (309 YTD)
  • Tesla Model 3 - 149 (461 YTD)
