This isn't the first time we've seen a Tesla Model S acting as a boat.

Remember when CEO Elon Musk said that the Tesla Model S floats well enough to act as a boat for a short period of time? He even said that using the accelerator pedal will propel the Tesla "boat" through the water via "wheel rotation," which makes perfect sense. However, it's much more important to note that he said this is definitely not recommended.

Tesla vehicles, as well as many EVs, use a skateboard design with the battery pack beneath the car's floor. The pack and drive units are fully enclosed in most cases, so they won't take on water. If a car doesn't fill up with water, it won't sink right away. Additionally, most of its working parts will continue working ... to a point and for a period of time.

At any rate, check out the recent video share from Twitter user Richard Richter and let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. We doubt that any of our readers have been in a situation that they've had to use their Tesla as a boat, but you never know.
