We do have to admit here up front that we love it when mainstream automotive publications find positive things to say about EVs. Of course, when you see a headline like the above, you immediately think ... NOPE, no way. If the headline is a question, chances are the publication was able to debunk it, right?

While that may be the case at times — but certainly not always — it's not the case here as Motor Trend takes the Tesla Model S to task. Perhaps the publication expected the flagship Tesla sedan to fall short? Maybe not? It's important to note that MT tends to be very enamored with electric cars in some cases.

At any rate, the Model S is supposedly capable of driving some 370 miles on a single charge due to the latest drivetrain update. Previously it was already a range champion at 335 miles.

Motor Trend secured an updated Tesla Model S Long Range All-Wheel-Drive sedan. The publication's editors drove it from the Tesla factory in Fremont to the automaker's design studio in Hawthorne, California (the site of Elon Musk's SpaceX, as well as the location for many Tesla events).

After some 359 miles of driving with no stops, Motor Trend reached the Hawthorne destination with 11 percent to spare. Wow! Some 41 miles still left on the Model S.
