It seems every M5 owner wants a crack at the Model 3.
This particular BMW M5 is the F10 version featuring the 4.4-liter biturbo V8. However, it comes packing a slight tune, which up power to 615 HP.
The Model 3 Performance doesn't put down numbers anywhere near that figure. However, it has the distinct advantage of AWD, as well as that instant electric torque. You'll see how this provides the Model 3 with the jump off the line in this drag racing clip.
In the end, though, the benefit of raw power plays out. But the race is so close that had it not been for the tune, the far more expensive (when new) BMW M5 might've not edged out the Model 3.
1/4 mile drag race between BMW M5 and a Tesla Model 3 Performance
The F10 BMW M5's 4.4L BiTurbo V8 makes 575 Horsepower and 516 lb-ft of Torque when stock. The M5 in the video has a minor mod (piggy back tune) and now makes about 615 horsepower.
The Tesla Model 3 Performance is powered by a 75kWh Battery that powers Dual Electric Motors and is All Wheel Drive. Tesla Produces 450 Horsepower and 471 lb-ft.
So the M56 has more power, but the Tesla is about 300 lbs lighter and has the advantage of AWD, so let's see who wins... DA was approximately +1600 feet.
