FORGET THE ROYAL WEDDING, ELON MUSK WAS JUST ELECTED FELLOW OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY
Sure, Prince Harry captured all the headlines in England with his spectacular Royal Wedding to American actress Meghan Markle. But Tesla fans can also rejoice as another American (ahem, King Elon) made British headlines. According to Sky News, "Elon Musk has been named among 50 eminent scientists, researchers and engineers as a Fellow of the Royal Society."

Is this such a big deal? Well, it turns out Elon is in good company. It's reported that "The Royal Society was founded in November 1660 by King Charles II and is the oldest national scientific institution in the world.... previous Fellows have included scientists as notable as Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Michael Faraday and Albert Einstein."
Venki Ramakrishnan, president of the Royal Society says, "this year's newly elected Fellows and Foreign Members of the Royal Society are testament that science is a global endeavour and excellent ideas transcend borders. We also recognise the cutting edge innovation taking place across industry, with many of this year's Fellows coming from the thriving tech industry."

Elon's newly minted bio showcased by the Royal Society trumpets his many achievements: "At Tesla, Elon oversees product design, engineering and manufacturing. The Tesla Roadster debuted in 2008, followed by Model S in 2012, the Model X SUV in 2015 and in 2017 the Model 3, a mass-market electric car... the world’s first vertically-integrated sustainable energy company."
To be fair though, Elon probably got the nod for his groundbreaking work at SpaceX. In fact, soon after he was elected into the prestigious Royal Society, SpaceX was selected number 1 on CNBC's list of Top 50 Disruptors. CNBC reminds us, "It's not sending people into space yet, but SpaceX did recently launch founder Elon Musk's cherry-red Tesla Roadster into orbit."

However, even with Elon's impressive credentials, don't count Prince Harry out just yet. Royal Wedding aside, Sky News reports, "It is not yet known if Prince Harry will be elected as a Royal Fellow following his marriage to Meghan Markle... there are currently five Royal Fellows of the Royal Society, including Prince Charles, Princess Anne, the Duke of Kent, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of York."
