Tesla began to use its own electric cars for Mobile Service purposes in the UK, adopting the Model S for the job.
As it turns out, a Model S without rear seats and with two trunks is capable of hauling a lot of stuff needed for simple repairs of customer cars on location.
Tesla transformed a fleet of 21 used Model S that were equipped with diagnostic devices, tools on a rack of sliding trays, a compressor, charger for power tools and even a coffee machine.
Conversion of a Model S to a Mobile Service vehicle can be done is several hours.
It's probably too soon to say that Tesla is able to get rid of ICE vans, but at some point in the future new Tesla models - truck/pickup truck - will allow Tesla mobile service to become independent from vehicles from other manufacturers.
