A PHEV boom is underway in France.

The French market is experiencing a boom in plug-in hybrid vehicles, with sales tripling in November. This helped to increase overall plug-in sales, as all-electric offerings moved upwards less briskly.

In total, 3,432 new plug-in EVs were registered last month in France, which was 59% more than one year ago.

Among the 2,166 passenger cars, 1,673 were all-electric, while 1,266 were plug-in hybrids (a new record) at combined market share of 1.63%.

November stats:

  • Passenger BEVs: 1,673 registrations (up 28.9%) at 0.93% market share (PC)
  • Passenger PHEVs: 1,266 registrations (up 207%) at ≈0.7% market share (PC)
  • Light commercial BEVs: 493 registrations (up 3.6%)
The Renault ZOE was unsurprisingly the best selling model with 776 registrations (up 48%) plus 30 ZOE registered as commercial vehicles. The second best was the plug-in hybrid Mercedes GLC - 283.

Third was the Renault Kangoo Z.E. - 209. One final model that shines in November is the smart fortwo electric drive - 163.
