New plug-in passenger car registrations in Norway – February 2018

The new Nissan LEAF made a big splash in Norway, setting its new monthly sales record in February - its first month of availability.

We expected that something big was hanging in the air as preliminary data indicated lots of registrations during the first two weeks of the month.

Ultimately, the Nissan LEAF achieved 781 sales in Norway in February, capturing 36% of all BEV registrations and grabbing the highest sales result of any car.

In total, 4,448 passenger plug-ins were registered last month (up 13.6% year-over-year), at 43.6% market share. Plug-ins outsold diesel cars (20.6% market share) 2 to 1.

Plug-in growth decreased, but overall car sales in Norway decreased by 13.5% so being 13.6% up is not bad - especially as lot of consumers wait for new plug-in models in thousands-long queue largely created by production constraints..
