If you want the best Porsche Panamera that money can buy, then the plug-in version is the one for you.
Those are basically the words of Porsche Cars North America’s Chief Operating Officer Joe Lawrence, who told Green Car Reports the following:
“I think what we have with the (2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid) is a range-topping sedan that is also a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The hybrids have been positioned in the middle of the range before. The top car now is an E-Hybrid."

“Every (Panamera) engine is turbocharged now. When we add electrification, you get what you used to get from turbocharging, as far as performance goes.”
“It appeals to someone who is a Porsche enthusiast, but it also appeals to someone who’s into hybrid cars and has an attachment to hybrid cars, better fuel economy, and green driving.”
“California, in general, is a fantastic market for Porsche. California does particularly well with electrified vehicles, but we expect it to be a strong vehicle for us nationally.”
Most plug-in hybrids from the German brands tends to be the top performing vehicles among the variants offered and this Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is no exception. It comes packing a 550-hp 4.0-liter turbocharged V-8 with a 101 kw (136 hp) electric motor. Combined power output is 680 hp.
It's 14.1 kWh battery pack allows for up to 31 miles (NEDC) of pure electric driving, which is rather impressive for such a large car too.
The revamped Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will go on sale later this year with a starting price of $185,450. The long-wheelbase version will start at $195,850.
