March plug-in vehicle sales (aka New Energy Vehicles regionally) in China shows a return to a strong growth trend, netting a 35.6% year-over-year gain, with 31,120 units sold (production in the same period increased by 30.9% to 33,015).
The disproportional splits of all-electric vehicles to plug-in hybrids increased in March to about a 4:1 ratio:
"To be specific, the production and sales of BEV reached 26,685 units and 25,342 units, increasing 41.8% and 43.3% year on year; and such figures for PHEV were 6,330 units and 5,778 units, decreasing 1.1% in production but increasing 9.6% in sales."
Cumulative stats for the first three months of the year doesn't look nearly as bright, the effects of an tardy qualifying EV incentive list that 86'd the first 6 weeks of sales in the country.
Sales, inclusive of all plug-ins, according to offical CAAM data increased by just 4.7% to 55,929 for 2017.
"For the first three months, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 58,317 units and 55,929 units respectively, decreasing 7.7% and 4.7% year on year. To be specific, the production and sales of BEV reached 47,988 units and 44,333 units, increasing 2.9% and 4.4% year on year; and such figures for PHEV were 10,329 units and 11,596 units, decreasing 37.5% and 28.4% year on year."
