Most recent Tesla Autopilot 8.1 software update for second gen hardware vehicles bring set of features, know already from first gen Autopilot. In other words gen 2 is catching up with gen 1.

One of the features is Summon Tesla, introduced over year ago to make it easier to park in the garage (or exit).

In theory it works like this:

"Using Summon, once you arrive home and exit Model S or Model X, you can prompt it to do the rest: open your garage door, enter your garage, park itself, and shut down. In the morning, you wake up, walk out the front door, and summon your car. It will open the garage door and come to greet you. More broadly, Summon also eliminates the burden of having to squeeze in and out of tight parking spots."

The practice was tested and demonstrated by some Tesla owners (see videos), which proves similar results as in the first gen Autopilot.

It's expected that future development of the software and full use of the hardware will enable to improve the Summon feature.

With Smart Summon, your car will navigate more complex environments and parking spaces, maneuvering around objects as necessary to come find you.
