Current Tesla Model S P100D Record Set by Tesla Racing Channel
The "old" record was a time of 10.638, the new record blew that out of the water at 10.444 @ 124.21 mph - however this one maybe needs an (*) asterisk beside it for some modification work.
This run by the Tesla Racing Channel was done without a frunk.
And we say "maybe needs" an asterisk because, as pointed out by Tesla Racing, Elon Musk himself said the option was a factory authorized service, and Musk even Tweeted out some PR on the modification last month.
"With Elon tweeting out that you can take your car to a Tesla Service Center to remove the frunk for added performance, weight reduction, we figured we do it ourselves and test our Basemodel P100D at the 1/4 Mile Dragstrip, Darlington Dragway. Setting a NEW WORLD RECORD for a mass production Electric vehicle and the fastest Tesla out there with a 10.4x. Should we continue to strip this car of weight?"
As for that Tweet from the Tesla boss? Here it is:
@jovanik21 Also, Tesla service can remove front trunk liner if you don't use it and improve performance further
