For April, BMW delivered 6,466 plug-in electric cars (over a total of eight different BMW i, iPerformance...nine if you count the just arriving Mini Cooper All4 PHEV); a result which is 43.4% more than a year ago.
The numbers also tell us that nearly 1 out of every 25 BMWs sold worldwide came with a plug.
So far this year, the German manufacturer has sold 25,883 BMW i and iPerformance plug-ins.
The 82.7% year-over-year growth of electrified sales to date makes BMW confident that its goal of 100,000 deliveries for the year is within range - especially considering the 2nd half of the year is always much more favorable for EV sales.
Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Brand BMW said:
“With demand for our electrified vehicles up over 80%, I’m confident that we’ll achieve our target of delivering 100,000 electrified cars on the road this year, underlining our industry-leading position in the field."
