The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV has received virtually every award it's been nominated for, including Motor Trend Car of the Year, North American Car of the Year, and so forth.
The new 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is better in every way to the 1st gen...or even the traditional hybrid (other than that token 5th seat thing)
But one of the bigger awards for green vehicles is still looming, and perhaps not surpisingly, the Bolt is among the finalists.

The finalists for the World Green Car of the Year award include:
Last year's winner was the Toyota Mirai
- Chevrolet Bolt EV
- Honda Clarity
- Hyundai Ioniq
- Tesla Model X
- Toyota Prius Prime
, so that may put a little dent in the Bolt's chances of winning if you consider that the Honda Clarity is similar in operation to Mirai, but we still think the Bolt is the front runner for this year's award. It would be hard to go against the consensus of the other major awards at this point.
In 2015 the winner was BMW i8, while BMW i3 secured title for 2014. Tesla Model S won in 2013.
75 automotive journalists from around the globe voted in the finalists. Their winning selection will be announced at the 2017 New York International Auto Show beginning on April 12, 2017.
