September 27th marks the start of a new racing series - the Electric GT Championship.
The Electric GT World series, announced earlier this year, will use rear-wheel drive Tesla Model S sedans and now we finally can see how it looks.
The P85 models were modified for racing (brakes, suspension wheels, slimming, aerodynamics, painting, etc.), but without touching the electric powertrain and batteries.
“For this we count on one of the best world class race preparation teams. We are making only small changes to the production Model S P85+ such as improved braking and aerodynamics to increase high speed grip. We will strengthen suspension, braking, cooling, and steering as well as reducing the overall weight. The rest, powertrain, battery, programming, everything is original.”
Electric GT will start in 2017 with 7 events, 10 teams and 20 drivers.
