2016 Nissan LEAF
Registrations of new plug-in electric cars in UK exceeded 7,000 in March for the first time (one of the two months of bi-annual plate change), reaching a record high of 7,144 - good for a 1.38% market share.
The growth year-over-year stands at 17%.
The majority of registrations in the UK are still of the PHEV variety (4,803 - good for 14% growth), while BEVs noted 2,341 new tallies, and a 23% increase compared to previous year.
The great March performance helped to push sales past the 10,000 mark in the first quarter, and expand the total plug-in fleet in service to some 60,000 vehicles.
From April, the UK will return back to more ordinary sales results, but hopefully still reaching at least the 2,000 level.
