Inside The Saab 9-3 EV Prototype
The NEVS (SAAB) saga continues with another announcement - this time it's a partnership with Renesas Electronics (related to NEC) to develop New Energy Vehicles for China.
Of note: Earlier today NEVs also announced a deal* to supply 150,000 9-3 EVs to Panda New Energy by the end of 2020 (full details)
Several months ago, National Electric Vehicle Sweden celebrated a ground breaking ceremony for production and R&D in Tianjin, China.
Details about cooperation with Renesas and electric cars to be launched in China are scarce, although the booming Chinese market can absorb all kinds of EVs, so NEVS still has a chance.
"Nevs has joined a strategic cooperation with Renesas Electronics - a world leading microcontroller and automotive semiconductor solution provider. Based on Nevs' EV-optimized automotive architecture and Renesas Electronics' mature technology system, the two parties will develop system solutions tailor-made for new energy vehicles."
NEVS Vice Chairman and Group Executive DirectorStefan Tilk said:
"Nevs has a long-term commitment to the Chinese market and we are dedicated to work with partners who share our vision of shaping mobility for a more sustainable future. We highly value Renesas Electronics’ experience in developing systems for new energy vehicles and their efforts in environmental and innovation solutions."
