Plug-in electric car registrations in Germany – January 2016

January brought a 16% increase in year-over-year plug-in electric car registrations in Germany to 1,453, but overall we believe that sales should've been stronger given the recent trends.

All-electric cars lost momentum, moving down 28% to 477, so all the growth this month comes from plug-in hybrids - 976 (up 65%).

Market share for plug-in electric cars in January hit 0.67% (up from 0.59% year ago and slightly below the 2015 average at 0.73%).

This year, Tesla is finally present in the main FZ8 table, but with only 38 Model S registered in January (we don't know why there is 39, as two detailed model stats show 38, and there is no sign of Model X).

The best-selling BEV was the Renault ZOE - 134. Kia Soul EV noted 37, after 918 in December and strong year-end runs to lower emission stats for Kia in the EU.

Volkswagen, Mercedes and Audi have the most plug-in hybrid registrations - 235, 143 and 125 respectively.
