The fastest electric motorcycle available on the market, the LS-218 from Lightning Motorcycles, was featured in one of the episodes of Discovery Channel's How They Do It Show.
The number in the name reflects the 218 mph (350 km/h) top speed for the bike.
In the more normal, aggressive street setup, LS-218 accelerates quick as lightning and the proof of that is in the win at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2013.
Lightning lists a 150 kW electric motor and three battery options:
- 380V 12 kwh battery pack (Range of 100-120 miles per charge)
- 380V 15 kwh battery pack (Range of 120-150 miles per charge)
- 380V 20 kwh battery pack (Range of 160-180 miles per charge)
