new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Both the Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are struggling with sales this year in Japan.
LEAF sales dropped 36% year-over-year to 474 in May, after a 44% drop in April.
After five months, LEAF sales stand at 4,598, almost 18% less than a year ago.
The Other best selling plug-in car on the market - the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - is seeing sales go down too.
With just 289 sales in May, Outlander PHEV took a hit of -49% year-over-year.
2,706 units sold by the end of May is over 39% less than a year ago.
Hopefully the situation will improve, especially with the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV coming in July and maybe a new longer range LEAF later this year.
Right now, electric car sales in Japan are probably at the lowest levels in two and a half years.
