Plug-in car registrations in Germany – May 2015 (source: EV Sales Blog)
The German plug-in electric car market grew in May but only 11% to 1,628 new registrations and 0.6% market share.
The good news is that plug-in hybrids are booming, reaching a record high 1,054 (up 97% year-over-year).
The bad news is that pure electric cars are struggling to achieve growth every month, and in May actually fell by 39% to 574!
Overall, after five months of 2015, total registrations stand at 7,856.
According to EV Sales Blog, plug-in hybrids are taking the top spots among models.
First is Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which is fighting with Volkswagen Golf GTE, although both are in different classes.
The best selling all-electric car in May was Renault ZOE, but for the year the leader is Nissan LEAF.
There are now over 30 models on the market, which is on track to exceed 20,000 units in the whole 2015 (compared to 13,000 in 2014).
