SolarCity at Niskayuna, NY
SolarCity almost doubled its business in 2014.
Customer base increased by about 96,700 to about 189,700 at the end of the year.
502 MW on new installations deployed in 2014 launched the cumulative number to 1,069 MW. Those PVs produced 1.5 TWh of energy, although not all was working for the whole year of course, as new installations were progressing.
The plan for 2015 is to double the results from 2014 and add up to 1,000 MW.
According to the Green Car Cong res, in 2014 total, PV installations reached 6,200 MW, which means that SolarCity got 1/12th of the market. Market share is growing fast and the whole market increased by 30%.
In early 2017, SolarCity expects to launch its own US giga-scale facility, which will produce 1,000 MW of PVs annually. 1 GW in 2 years willnot be enough to secure all needs (potentially 2 GW in 2016 and 4 GW in 2017), which means that they will probably still be buying most of PVs from other manufacturers.
