As outlined by Green Car Congress, the California Energy Commission is making available nearly $1.3 million in Zero Emission Vehicle Readiness funding to "support new and existing planning efforts for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs)."

Here's some additional info on how the funding will be disbursed:

Grant funds will be awarded on a “first-come, first-served basis.”

Funding Categories and Award Amounts

  • PEV Readiness Plan Implementation - $50,000 to $300,000 per application

  • PEV Readiness Plan Development - $50,000 to $300,000 per application

  • FCEV Readiness - $10,000 to $300,000 per application

And a brief description of the 3 categories:

Category A: PEV Readiness Plan Implementation.

Permitting and Inspection Process EVCS Installation Process EVCS Siting Signage PEV Awareness Local Government Code Adoption and Training

Category B: PEV Readiness Plan Development. This funding category is for regions that do not have a PEV Readiness Plan adopted or currently under development.

Category C: FCEV Readiness.

Regional Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure Plan Streamlining the Permitting Process for Hydrogen Refueling Stations Promotion of FCEV Use Training Safety Assessments Incorporation of FCEVs in Municipal Fleets Signage

Site readiness
