And some notes on the qualification rounds via Electric Autosport:
Jean-Eric Vergne impressed by acquiring pole position for the FIA Formula E Championship race in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The Frenchman lost his Formula 1 seat recently, but recovers quite well in the all-electric racing series. It was his first outing in Formula E, representing the Andretti outfit. He pushed for pole in the first out of four qualifying groups and even brushed the wall. Nobody was able to beat his time.

eDams Renault racing driver Nicolas Prost and Sebastien Buemi came close to the time of Vergne but they eventually took third and fourth place as Nelson Piquet jr. improved to second in the third group.
Not only Vergne touched the wall, many drivers found it difficult to keep the car far away of slippery sand. As the track is located directly alongside the beach, sand will be an issue in the race. A few drivers became a victim, like Putrajaya race winner Sam Bird going into the wall.
Bruno Senna has been excluded from qualifying after the team was working on the car within five minutes of the start of the session.
Moving onto the Punta del Este ePrix race (Spoiler Alert)
When the green flag dropped, the action began with Nelson Piquet quickly jumping into the lead.
It took less than 8 minutes for the first wreck to occur. Sam Bird launched his Formula E racer over the curbs. He exited the damaged vehicle on his own.
Sam Bird Wrecks
Sam Bird wasn't the only driver to crash. Several others, including Senna and Brabham had an on-track mishap.
In the end, Buemi captured victory for Team e.dams Renault, though it was certainly a close finish, according to Electric Autosport:
Buemi cutting the chicane. Vergne is pushing for victory.
Piquet takes a brilliant second in front of Lucas di Grassi. Trulli drives his car home in fourth, just in front of Alguersuari and Senna. Prost takes seven.
Di Grassi leads the championship standings with 58 points. Buemi second with 40 points, Bird also 40. Prost is fourth with 24.
eDams Renault takes the lead in the teams' championship and has gathered 64 points, two more than Audi Sport ABT. Virgin Racing has collected 54 points.
