Illinois' Route 66 is soon to be outfitted with one heck of an upgrade: a vast network of EV charging stations.
Entire Route 66 map.
For those who own an EV and would like to travel the 301-mile Route 66, you will soon be able to without any issue.
Eight cities (From Plainfield - Edwardsville) will be fitted with at least one Level III DC Fast-Charging station.
This $1,000,000 project, funded by auto manufacturers with some assistance from the University of California at Davis, starts now and is expected to be finished by the end of summer 2015. Perhaps more chargers will be added later on.
As a Chicago Land Area resident, I hope to provide further information, pictures, videos, etc. during and after this project.
If interested, check out the Illinois Route 66 website for events, planning, maps, brochures, facts, stories, etc.
