Zero Motorcycles 2014 Lineup
It's official. Via PRNewswire, Zero is announcing the unveiling of their 2015 model line in two venues: Intermot, Cologne, on Sept. 30 to Oct. 5, (Hall 7, Stand C-010) and AIMExpo, in Orlando FL on October 16-19, (booth 365).
"We see Intermot and AIMExpo as the perfect platforms to unveil the 2015 motorcycles to the world. Both events provide a great venue to interact with riders, dealers and the press," said Scot Harden, Zero Motorcycles VP of Global Marketing. "We are confident that the new line will exceed expectations and look forward to seeing how the motorcycle world responds."
Before you get all excited about the "Zero C" bike above, this is from one John Mark Vicente of JVM Design, as a concept-development project completely independent of Zero Motorcycles, Inc. And we love it. So we're looking at those concepts, dreaming of what may be, could be in the works, and waiting for Sept 30, the Big Day.
(update: We just got word from Vicente - it appears he's secured himself an internship with Zero after all. Could it be too much of a stretch to speculate we may actually be seeing some of his ideas in the flesh and steel and aluminum sometime in the future?)
To be perfectly honest, since Zero hit it out of the park last year with the huge boost in performance of the Zero SR, and no answer from the main competition, Brammo, we're not expecting another watershed moment. Range/battery capacity may improve a bit, though without breakthroughs in battery chemistry we wouldn't expect more than 5-10%.. Weight may be decreased a bit, maybe some additional trim and software features. Some suspension improvements would be nice, and ABS is clearly on the docket, but beyond that, anything earth-shattering will be a huge surprise. But who doesn't love surprises?
As far as when you can actually try one of the new models out, on their site they mention the Zero Factory Demo Event
Date/Time: Friday, January 2nd, 2015 (1:00pm - 4:00pm)
Location: Zero Motorcycles Corporate Headquarters Address: 380 El Pueblo Road, Scotts Valley, California 95066 USA
Event contact: 888-786-9376
...only a few short days, though, until Intermot in Cologne, and we should be seeing the real thing then. Stay tuned!
