Given the fact the Guinness people where in attendance, and festivities set up to celebrate, this new record was expected to be a shoe-in, but it turned out a little closer than expected - as the previous mark was 481 vehicles (Stuttgart, Germany earlier this year).
The number could have been a little higher, but this event was for 100% electric vehicles and some disqualifications were made during the event for also having alternative powertrains (gas, pedal, etc), while some others failed to complete the planned route.
The ride was part of the 42nd Annual Silicon Valley Electric Vehicle Rally, the event was billed as the "nation’s largest electric vehicle event during National Drive Electric Week"
Still, 507 is a pretty great turnout, and shows that EV adoption in the United States and around the world continues to soar.
