Oh No You Didn't Kia!  I am Not Driving Around In Those Colors!

Earlier this year we were excited to learn that the Kia Soul EV would launch in the fall of this year in the US.

However at the same time, our own pet peeve against featuring the color Peacock Blue for debuting an electric car was further aggravated as something called "Pearl While/Electronic Blue" has been front and center on the 212 km (NEDC rated for Europe), 92 mile (EPA for USA) Kia CUV.

...our apologies to you if you already own a "Blue Ocean" Nissan LEAF, a "Viridian Joule" Chevrolet Volt, or "Frosted Glass/Ice Storm" Ford Focus Electric or Fusion/C-Max Energi - there is nothing that can be done for you

Thanks to a tip from one of our readers (wave to Bill R), we can say that the "white with light blue Barbie edition" (his words not ours) and the "Carribean Blue & Clear White" (yes, that is how Kia spells Carribean) will be joined by something much cooler...and 2 other boring as heck color offerings.

As all InsideEVs readers know, dark colored EVs (specifically black) are not only faster to 60 mph, have a greater range, but also render all other colored plug-in vehicles immobile within 100 yards...and up to 1 mile in the case off Peacock Blue. (it's science)

The two other acceptable choices that have also been added are: Clear White and Titanium Silver ... which we like to refer to as white and gray.

Kia plans on producing about 5,000 Soul EVs for the 2015 model year (video of production and from its debut in Geneva below), with the bulk of those headed to the US.  The Kia Soul EV also goes on sale shortly in Canada.  Pricing is expected to be just higher than a decently equipped Nissan LEAF.
