Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

In March, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sales in Japan fell for the first time in five months to below 1,000 units.  Just 736 were sold in March.

This means that the whole first quarter closed with 3,664 Outlander PHEV sales, compared to 4,304 in Q1 of 2013 when sales began with a huge backlog of orders.

Interesting is that for the second month in a row, Outlander PHEV is behind the Nissan LEAF, which sold 1,903 units in February and 1,201 in March.  Including the 1,241 in January, the Nissan LEAF is now the plug-in vehicle leader with 4,345 sales after Q1.

Pure electric EVs from Mitsubishi had 284 sales, from which nearly half (130) belong to i-MiEV and the rest to the van and truck version of Minicab-MiEV.

All Japanese EVs and PHEVs seems to have had the best sales month in February and are showing some declines in March, probably due to changes in subsidies for the new fiscal year.
