The street of the future – neighbors in Marlow test the impact of a cluster of 9 electric vehicles on the local electricity grid
Recently, in the UK the My Electric Avenue project was launched with several clusters of neighbors with electric cars. This idea is to check how charging will affect demand of electricity in small area (typically one street).
Monitoring and smart grid functions enable the turning off of charging for short periods of time at peak usage.
Robert Llewellyn had a second occasion to present the My Electric Avenue project on Fully Charged and here is the new episode:
"The launch in the UK of the My Electric Avenue project."
"It's a scheme to test what happens when groups or 'clusters' of neighbours on the same feeder from the local electricity substation all have electric cars."
"The technology being introduced will help power suppliers and the grid manage the increased use in electric vehicles."
