Japanese company M-TEC Co., Ltd. confirmed it will make an appearance in this year's Isle of Man TT Zero Challenge class, which will be the third for M-TEC. Two previouse races gave M-TEC two second place finishes with John McGuinness on board as the driver.

This year, for the first time, Mugen will have two riders, John McGuinness and Bruce Anste, both previous winners of TT races in different classes.  The race is planned for May/June.

By the way, M-TEC presented its new electric motorcycle, the Mugen Shinden San, which is the third prototype after Mugen Shinden and Mugen Shinden Ni (Shinden is "God of electricity" in Japanese). This bike is the favorite for the win as MotoCzysz (four time winner of TT Zero) sadly will not race this year.

"M-TEC originally created the in-house TT Zero project as a means of developing and initiating their young engineers in the emerging technologies that are fast becoming prevalent in all forms of modern motorsport, and competed for the first time at the Isle of Man TT in 2012. Since then with two consecutive second-place finishes under their belt the team is gunning for a victory in 2014 with an all-new challenger, “SHINDEN SAN."

According to M-TEC, Mugen Shinden San will have over 10% more power (up to 100 kW) and more energy in battery pack. Weight seems to be rather the same so this is progress.

"The development for this year sees a new oil-cooled 3-phase brushless motor that is increased in power output while at the same time is lighter and reduced in size. The team has taken the opportunity afforded by this new layout to increase the battery capacity over the 2013 machine and installed new control systems take advantage of the performance capabilities.

Also with SHINDEN SAN the engineers have used the data gained from previous years racing and testing to optimise the aerodynamics of the machine and adopted newly-developed suspension in order to maximise the speed potential."

One of the most interesting things is that Mission Motors is back on the stage, not as a contender, but as supplier and sponsor of Team Mugen in 2014. Mission Motors was once on the Isle of Man in 2009 in first TTXGP race (from 2010 event is called TT Zero), but without luck took 4th place. Recently, Mission Motors was pretty quiet and we know that the San Francisco based company is supplying Mission Motorcycles in Mission RS, presented recently in Jay Leno’s Garage.

With initial integration work now completed, track testing will continue through the spring.  Mission is confident that Team MUGEN Shinden has what it takes to capture their first TT Zero victory and a new lap record."

For now, we even don't know what parts Mission Motors is supplying to Mugen.
