E-Runner Pikes Peak Special

Tires are one of the most important components in racing (especially at power equivalent to 1,000-horsepower).  For the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the fastest electric vehicle on the course will again use Singapore-based Giti Tire.

Last year, Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima set an EV record 9:46.530 time, despite a wet course. Giti Tire engineers were forced to hand cut tread grooves into the tires duerain.

In 2014, E-RUNNER will get specially designed 17-inch GitiCompete GTR1 slicks (340/710-18) instead of the 20-inch version used last year.

The race is scheduled for June 29, so stay tuned for lots of coverage here at InsideEVs.

Armand Allaire, vice president of marketing at Giti Tire USA, stated:

"Giti Tire USA is thrilled to continue our support of the company's global motorsports efforts at this year's iconic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb competition. Involvement in motorsports events like Pikes Peak drives our engineers to constantly seek better technology solutions for superior tire performance.  There's no question that advancements made on the race track are incorporated into our everyday tires for the benefit of all our customers, including the GT Radial line which is carried here in North America."
