Chevy Volt

Chevy Volt

Guess which vehicle topped the plug-in electric vehicle sales chart in Canada in March.

It's no shocker that the Chevy Volt was #1 again in Canada.  In all honesty, it seems unlikely that the Volt will ever get knocked off this pedestal.  The Volt has been Canada's top-selling plug-in vehicle for more than one year now.  Sometime way back in 2012 the LEAF outsold the Volt, but since then it's been all Volt in the #1 spot.

Here are the March 2014 sales results for Canada:

  • Chevrolet Volt: 105
  • Nissan LEAF: 75
  • Tesla Model S: Ballpark estimate of 20 to 40 units
  • Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid: 13
  • Mitsubishi i-MiEV:  12
We won't have data on Ford's plug-in vehicles anytime soon, as the automaker only spits out those numbers for Canada on a semi-annual basis.
