Toyota RAV4 EV - White Sticker Eligible, So Now Worry Here Over When Green Runs Out
Dianne Whitmire, Fleet and Internet Sales Director at Carson Toyota in Sunny SoCal, reports to InsideEVs that California's green HOV sticker advance purchase program has been suspended effective immediately. Only 3,770 green stickers remain unclaimed. (details on that here)
Update (March 21st, 2014): Just 3,263 stickers remain.
Quoting Whitmire, who, along with the Carson Toyota team seem to sell more Toyota RAV4 EVs than any other dealer out there:
"DMV's program allowing new car dealers to purchase and install green HOV stickers on eligible vehicles before they are sold has been suspended."
"Existing law authorizes the DMV to issue no more than 40,000 green stickers, and this limit will soon be reached, so DMV has reserved all remaining green stickers for individual consumer applications. AB 2013 (Muratsuchi) was recently introduced and if it becomes law, will increase the number of green stickers that the DMV is authorized to issue."
"DMV's announcement does NOT affect white HOV stickers and dealers may still obtain these in advance for eligible vehicles in their inventory."
"Finally, CARB's Clean Vehicle Rebate Program may also be suspended sometime before July 1st, because funding is running short."
It seems Whitmire is on top of all issues related to colored HOV stickers and the California's CVRP.
*Note: Whitmire tells us that white HOV stickers can still be ordered in advance, so no worries there.
