This B-Class, like the BMW i3 and BMW i8, is an oldie in terms of auto show appearances, but still there's reason to get excited as the B-Class Electric Drive is now just months away from launching in the US:

“…B-Class ED will be available starting summer 2014 at authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers in select states — CA, CT, MD, OR, NJ, NY, RI and VT — and then nationwide in early 2015.”

Here’s a look at what to expect when the B-Class debut in Summer 2014:

  •  0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds
  • 28 kWh battery pack
  • Range ~ 90 miles
  • 174 hp
  • 228 pound feet of torque
  • Top speed 100 mph
  • 10 kW charging capability
  • Price tag “in the low $40s”

As promised, we tracked down a Mercedes-Benz exec in Geneva for comment on this recent InsideEVs story: "Is Mercedes-Benz Pulling a Tesla By Offering Optional Bigger Battery Pack in B-Class Electric Drive?"

You ready for a cliffhanger?  The B-Class Electric Drive won't have an optional bigger battery pack, but the exec says we're sort of on the right track...More to come soon.
