XL1 in NYC

Because it's the New Year, we're inclined to spread the cheer today by putting forth some light-hearted, positive plug-in vehicle posts.

With that in mind, we present to you the 2018 EV goal for the state of New York

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) recently partnered with ChargePoint and utility National Grid to get 3,000 public and workplace chargers in the ground by 2018.

Additionally, the state of New York aims to have 40,000 plug ins on its roads by 2018.  Today, only ~4,000 plug-ins are registered statewide.

Both the charging effort and the goal to increase EV uptake are part  of a $50 million investment put forth by the Governor of New York.  The $50 million will be doled out over the next 5 years.

40,000 plug ins is certainly a lofty figure, but New York's push doesn't end there.  By 2025, the state's goal is 1 million plug ins on its roads!!!
