Daimler saying: Charge@Work
Beginning in mid-October, Daimler will make available to its employees in and around Stuttgart, Germany 260 electric cars and 170 charging points at five Daimler facilities
It's good to be an EV-loving Daimler employee these days and ziping around in one of the brand new
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive smart fortwo electric drive is bonus.
Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELL
This will be a taste of electric mobility as part of the "charge@work" project. Employees will be able to use the 220 smart fortwo electric drives and 40 Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELLs (these were built a few years ago with Tesla battery packs) for business and personal use.
"With the project "charge@work", Daimler AG is providing its employees with access to efficient and sustainable electric mobility. Battery powered A-Class vehicles will be available for individual shuttling between the respective factories. For private use, employees will additionally be able to hire a smart fortwo electric drive online on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. Thus, a vast and diverse group of users will have the opportunity to get a taste of electric cars in an everyday environment. Plenty of charging facilities at five Daimler factories in Möhringen, Sindelfingen, Mettingen, Untertürkheim and Böblingen encourage a wide and practical usage of the provided vehicles. Efforts to further optimise the charging process are set to continue. In this respect, the focus will be on further development of "intelligent charging" with the overarching goals of efficient energy management and an optimal use of resources."
As we read further into the press release, "charge@work" is one of over 40 initiatives in the "LivingLab BWe mobil" programme sponsored by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety to promote electric mobility in Germany.
