Smart Canada decided to rent out a scenic downtown Toronto rooftop parking structure to demonstrate something most electric vehicle owners already know.

Thanks to instant torque, electric cars have a lot of quickness of the line and can surprise aggressive traffic light competition  - no racing prowess needed.

In the above video the smart ForTwo Electric Drive takes on a "Olympic sprinter and a sports car" over what seems to be about about 150 feet of pavement.

Surprisingly (or not), the 63 mile, 2 seat plug-in from smart-Daimler, with 96 lb-ft of torque finishes dead last just ahead of both the runner and the Porsche Boxster.
