To Soon Electrify the Track
Making its official debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Formula E Spark-Renault SRT racer features a 270 hp electric motors that's bolted to a monocoque chassis and runs on 18-inch rubber supplied by Michelin.
The first race featuring this electric machine will be held sometime next year as part of the Formula E Championship series.
Tens teams and twenty drivers will take part in the inaugural season, which will see each driver race 2 vehicles (swapped during a mandatory "pit stop") during the one-hour events.
FIA President, Jean Todt, had this to say at the reveal:
