A Big Feature In California: HOV Access...Now Through 2019
Yellow is out, but green and white will remain until 2019.
We're talking about California's HOV access stickers and it seems they'll be sticking around until at least 2019.
California's state legislature recently passed a bill that will extended those green stickers for plug-in hybrids and white stickers for electrics for three more years (the stickers were originally set to expire in 2016).
Assembly member Richard Bloom, D-Santa Monica, stated:
"California has always been leading the way when it comes to lowering our carbon footprint. These standards entice Californians to utilize the most environmentally friendly vehicles."
And assembly member Tim Donnelly, R-Twin Peaks, adds:
"I think most people out there would love to be able to get home from work in a timely fashion. That was the original intent was to ease congestion, encourage people to carpool and then they can spend more time with their families."
California Governor Jerry Brown must first sign the measure into law before it becomes official, but his previous support of all things green basically guarantees that he'll sign on the line.
