Just over one month ago, Ford kicked off production of the Focus Electric in Europe.

Focus Electric Rolls Off the Line

More specifically, the Focus Electric began rolling down the line at Ford's factory in Saarlouis, Germany.

There's been quite a bit of chatter as to why Ford would produce the Focus Electric overseas rather than shipping completed vehicles there from the US.  We don't have an explanation for that.

But what's obvious from this B-roll production video from Ford is that several of the vital electric components, including the heavy and bulky battery pack, appear to come straight from the US.  Dearborn, Michigan to be more precise.  Most likely these parts are shipped first to the US and then some head back out the doors to make the journey to Europe.

This perplexes us even more.

Anyways, if you want to see how the Focus Electric gets assembled overseas, then check it this B-roll production video.
