The 2013 winners of the 4th annual Automotive News Europe L.E.A.D.E.R. awards have been announced and Tesla Motors made the list.
Tesla joined Jaguar Land Rover and ZF Friedrichshafen as the trio of L.E.A.D.E.R. award winners.
Automotive News Europe says L.E.A.D.E.R. stands for Leaders in European Automotive Development, Excellence, and Research and that the awards "recognize one top achievement each for innovation in product development and environmental technology, supplier technology and retailing."
Tesla was awarded for several reasons, which Automotive News Europe outlines below:
"Tesla, which has a fully owned dealership network in Europe, is getting this year's award for automotive retailing because of its innovative approach for distributing and servicing its full-electric supercars."
"It also is being recognized for the deployment of its own charging network. This year Tesla hopes to build about 20,000 Model S sedans."
Paula den Dunnen, communications director for Europe at Tesla, received the award on behalf of Tesla, remarking:
"We're very happy for the recognition of our unique retail model, which includes nine stores in Europe now and will soon grow to include Amsterdam, Brussels and London."
