ChargePoint America

ChargePoint America

Way back in May of 2010, ChargePoint received a $15 million matching grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Transportation Electrification Initiative administered by the Department of Energy.  Yes, that's more than a mouthful.

The California Energy Commission then allocated an additional $3.4 million in funding for ChargePoint to install residential and public chargers within California.

All told, ChargePoint, under its ChargePoint America Program, was to take those funds to ship and install 4,600 home, public and commercial charging points in the US.

Consider that done.

On June 11, ChargePoint announced that it had completed the install of those 4,600 charge points in the US.  This effectively means that the ChargePoint America Program is done.

Ten regions in the US got charging stations under the ChargePoint America Program: Austin/San Antonio, Texas; Boston; Los Angeles; New York; Orlando/Tampa; Sacramento; San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area; Redmond/Bellevue, Wash.; Washington DC/Baltimore; and Southern Michigan (including Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit).
