Given all Volkswagen's plug-in announcements this week, we figure it might just be easier for them to tell us which vehicles in their lineup won't have a plug in the future.
Today, we have more details and a release date on an extended range VW Golf, that will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The car is equipped with a dual-clutch e-S tronic 6-speed gearbox, and a 1.4-liter TFSI internal combustion engine that puts out 150 HP, with a 75 kW/101 hp electric motor.
When used in conjunction the two motors give the VW a total of 204 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which result in 0-62 mph time of 7.6 seconds (the exact same as it's sister Audi).
Volkswagen says that the car will get 188 MPG in the UK, which theoretically translates to about 156 MPG in the US. However, once the EPA is done with testing it,we estimate a rating of about 105 MPGe; as a comparision, the Chevrolet Volt is rated at 98 MPGe
Also like the Audi A3 e-tron, Volkswagen says it's 2013 Golf plug-in hybrid can travel about 31 miles based on the Euro-zone NEDC standard, (which translates to about 22 miles in the US), up to a maximum speed of 81 mph.
VW states the extended range Golf will go into production in 2014. No pricing has yet been given, but whatever you were thinking seemed reasonable on the A3 e-tron, just make this $10,000 less.
