2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid Has MPGe Bragging Rights
It seems Honda is trying to slowly expand the reach of its plug-in vehicle.
If you recall, Honda previously announced that sales of the Fit EV will soon commence on the US' East Coast. Now, the Accord Plug-In Hybrid Sedan is headed north. Way north.
The base MSRP of the Accord PHEV is $39,780.
Starting in Spring of 2013, the Accord PHEV will enter the Canadian market for "viability testing." Honda does not provide any additional information on what's exactly meant by this, but we assume Honda will do some sort of limited Canadian release of the Accord PHEV to gauge consumer reaction.
Now it's time for a recap of the specs:
The 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid is powered by Honda’s first two-motor hybrid system and uses Honda’s new Earth Dreams 2.0 litre i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine producing 137 horsepower, teamed with a powerful 124-kilowatt electric motor. Electric driving is supported by a 6.7 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and total system output is 196 horsepower.
Electric-only range is listed at up to 13 miles, its MPGe rating is 115 combined, fuel economy ratings are listed at 49/45/47 city/hwy/combined and its price tag in the US is $39,780.
The 2014 Accord PHEV launched in the US in January 2013. Sales in its first month on the market were only 2 units.
