2014 Fiat 500E
Fiat has released official images of the 500E electric car, which is about to debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of the month.

The car first was shown at the 2010 NAIAS (Detroit Auto Show), and despite a rocky road to production, it looks to have made it through; mostly thanks to US compliance regulations.

Not much is known on the car, other than the fact the Fiat-Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne says they are going to lose a lot of money on every one they sell.

The economics of EVs simply don’t work. On the 500 that Chrysler will begin selling in the U.S. next year, we will lose over $10,000 per unit despite the retail price being three times higher (than the standard ICE)"

The show car had a stated range of about 100 miles, with a 74 kW motor.  No pricing or expanded specs have been announced by Fiat as of yet.

Chrysler's accompanying statement:

The all-new battery-electric Fiat 500e brings Italian flavor to the electric vehicle market with a unique combination of iconic 500 design, performance and range. The zero-emission Fiat 500e will premiere on the "green carpet" of the American Music Awards on Sunday, November 18, and will be showcased to the general public for the first time at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Fiat 500e will be available in the state of California in 2013.
