The Audi R8 e-tron will officially be making its production debut at the Paris Motor Show on the 29th of this month.  However, as luck would have it, Audi previewed a f12 e-performance vehicle ahead of that event to get us excited - and someone was there to take this nice walkthrough video.

Audi R8 e-tron basics are expected to be:

  • two electric motors
  • 308 horsepower
  • 604 lb-ft of torque
  • 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds
  •  42/58 weight distribution
  • 7.7-inch 'Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode' replaces standard rear-view mirror (earlier post)
  • top speed: 125 mph
  • it can do a lap of the Nürburgring circuit in 8:09.099 (earlier post/video)
  • electric range: 135 miles (besting Mercedes SLS E-Cell by about 30 miles)

The video is quite professional, giving us decent looks at both the inside and outside of the car, including the engine bay and the interior with its large touch screen/info-tainment display.  It also appears the electric supercar is now referred to as the "e sport".

For the Paris Motor Show, Audi has set up a interactive user display for people to 'test drive' the dash ergonomics without being in the car, as well as put the electric motor and lithium ion battery pack on display.

If we have any issue with the car if it was in production after seeing the video, it is that the front charge port.

While being cleverly hidden in the front of the car, it looks (and sounds) as if it is a repeating repair claim just waiting to happen.

Audi says they will build 1,000 R8 e-trons, and the car goes on sale in early 2013 with an expected price of about $250,000.
